Location of Windsor, Nova scotia
Windsor is 66 km northwest of Halifax, approximately 20 km from Wolfville in the Annapolis Valley. Today the community services and is nucleus of the West Hants Municipal District.

Home Styles In Windsor
The home styles of Windsor and surrounding areas range from centuries old historic masterpieces to contemporary new builds. The downtown area is where you will find the century homes while, on the outskirts of town and in neighbouring communities of Garland Crossing and Falmouth, you will find mid 1950s up to new construction.

Georgian-Federal
Thornton is valued as the oldest brick home in Windsor and for its association with merchants Thomas Timlin and Edward Dimock, who greatly contributed to the economic history of the town.
Built in 1844, the exterior of the two-storey Georgian-Federal style home has not been substantially altered with the exception of the side addition in the 1960s.

Second Empire
The Clockmaker’s Inn is valued for its architectural significance as a well-preserved Second Empire style house. Built in 1894, the house is a large, three storey, wood frame structure, with a mansard roof and a symmetrical façade.

"East coast" Cape
Cape Cod style homes are traditionally single story homes with a low and broad rectangular profile, a central chimney, and a pitched, side-gabled roof. In later years, dormers or second stories were often added to Cape Cod homes, though other primary features were maintained.

Founded in 1788, private school King’s-Edgehill is one of only 400 schools internationally that offer the International Baccalaureate Program
Avon View High School is a secondary school located in Garlands Crossing, Hants County. It serves students from grades 9 to 12. The school provides education services for approximately 900 students in the Windsor, Nova Scotia area.
All students from Mount Denson to Lakelands to Walton to Vaughan. We receive students from 6 feeder
schools: Dr. Arthur Hines, Three Mile Plains, Brooklyn District, Windsor Forks, Falmouth District, and
Windsor Elementary attend West Hants Middle School.
Brooklyn District Elementary School is a rural P-5 elementary with a wide catchment area. Serving students from Upper Burlington, Mosherville, Scotch Village, Union Corner, Avondale, Belmont, Poplar Grove, Mantua, Brooklyn, Woodville, Ashdale, Hillsvale, Ardoise, Ellershouse, Newport Corner and McKay Section.
Opened in 1990, Windsor Elementary boasts a staff of 19 teachers, 9 educational assistants, 1 library technician, 1 lunch/cafeteria staff, three custodians and a full-time principal, vice principal and secretary.
Founded in 1838, Acadia University is one of the oldest and most respected liberal arts universities in Canada. Located just a one-hour drive from Halifax, Nova Scotia and its international airport, Acadia is an integral part of the quintessential college town of Wolfville, overlooking the Annapolis Valley and the Bay of Fundy.

This 18th-century British fortification offers a glimpse into Canada’s military history. Built by Major Charles Lawrence in 1750.
This farm is home to some of the largest pumpkins in the world, and visitors can take a tour and learn about pumpkin growing.
Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia began fifty years ago when its three founding members made it the company’s mission to make the arts accessible to children in outlying communities around Atlantic Canada.
Opened in 2014 this was at the time it was the smallest commercial brewery in the province.
Now it is a unique school themed taproom and kitchen, gift shop, dog friendly patio and of course, the brewery itself.
With over 60 zip lines and 18 courses, there is adventure to be found here for all skill levels. Ski Martock is right next door.
